GELATOS

I’ve just discovered a new medium, Gelatos, by Faber-Castell. I am having so much fun!

Faber-Castell gives the following description of Gelatos on their Metallics package: It’s easy to Mix & Match! Mix mediums with matching color palettes to create with confidence. These creamy, acid-free pigment sticks glide vibrant color onto projects and blend beautifully with or without water. Gelatos are extremely versatile. Use Gelatos to tint Gesso, Whipped Spackle, Texture Luxe, and other mediums.

I initially was concerned that I would run out of a color and then would need to purchase a complete package in order to get that color. But, I checked the Faber-Castell website and Gelatos can be purchased individually, too.

I like the watercolor effect when water is added to it. I’ve seen pictures of Gelatos being used on an embossing folder, as well as a rubber stamp, with beautiful watercolor results. That will be my next project~unless something else shiny distracts me.

On my card, I used the Silver Ice, Boysenberry, Metallic Mint, Lime, and Lavender Gelatos. I colored them on a large acrylic block, as well as a small one, and spritzed water on the blocks. I placed the large block onto a sheet of 140 lb. white cardstock and moved it around; I used the small block in some spots to add dimension. I dabbed off the extra water with a paper towel. I let the cardstock dry and then sprayed on some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. I anchored the cardstock on Core’dinations paper-Grassroot (Joanne’s).

I stamped the ‘justBECAUSE’ sentiment (Stampabilities) on green paper. On the bottom, I used a couple of leftover pieces of paper that had Gelatos on them; put that on a green strip of paper; and added three faux jewels.
