Wild Child

I created this card using My Favorite Things stamps/dies, a stamp from Lavinia Stamps, Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Copics, and Prismacolor Pencils.

When I saw the Let Your Hair Down stamp set, it took me back to my childhood…climbing trees, making mud pies and dandelion stew, and playing outside until the sun went down! I’m sure a frog was somewhere close by getting in on the fun, too.

I used the smooshing technique to make this card. I put Mermaid Lagoon distress ink on a glass media mat; spritzed it with water until the water beaded; and smooshed the watercolor paper into the distress ink. I repeated this process a few times until I achieved the look I wanted…a blue summer sky.

I positioned a Lavinia Acetate Hill Mask on the bottom of the card, then sponged Mowed Lawn distress ink along the top of the mask using a Picket Fence blender brush. I repeated this to make three hills, then added more Mowed Lawn to the areas in between.

The child and tree branch are together as one stamp in the Let Your Hair Down set; the frog, along with the stone, is part of the Swimming Hole Friends set. I stamped these, as well as the falling leaves, on a sheet of X-Press It Blending Card using Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink. I set them aside for the night to make sure the ink had dried sufficiently before I colored them.

Because some of the areas on the stamps were small, I used a combination of Copics and Prismacolor pencils; then die cut the stamped images with their matching dies. I stamped the Lavinia Stamps tree (Druid’s Inn) on a piece of X-Press It Blending Card using Pinecone VersaFine Clair ink. I let that dry a while, colored it with Copics, and cut it out by hand.

I adhered the stamped images to the cardstock using a combination of Scor-Tape and Multi Medium Matte. To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment and attached the cardstock to a black cardstock base.

The Wild Child is now ready to spend the day playing under an endless blue summer sky!

Halloween Love

I created this card using My Favorite Things stamps/die, Lavinia Stamps ‘Bats’ and Fairytale Eco Glitter, Copics, and Brushos.

Isn’t she just adorable! I saw this stamp and thought ‘I’ve GOT to have that!’

You can tell the little cat has been in my craft room…she has glitter on her tail! My cat can probably relate.

To make the background, I sprinkled Violet Brusho over the surface of the watercolor paper. I spritzed the Brusho with water and lifted and tilted the paper so that the Brusho and water ran towards the bottom of the paper.

I stamped the little witch on X-Press It Blending card and die cut her with the matching die. (The witch, cat, and broom are one stamp). I colored them with Copics, then used a Quickie Glue Pen to put dots of glue where I wanted the glitter to go. I sprinkled Fairy-tales StarBrights glitter over the glue, tapped off the excess, and used a Cricut Weeder to gently guide the stray pieces of glitter from the areas on the stamped image where I didn’t want it.

Next, I die cut the moon out of a scrap piece from a previous project. (Ost. Blue, Violet, and Turquoise Brushos had been used.) I attached the moon to the watercolor paper using Scor-Tape and adhered the witch with Scor-Tape and Multi Medium Matte.

I stamped the sentiment and bat on a strip of the extra Brusho watercolor paper, then added a few accompanying bats to the card. To finish, I adhered the cardstock to a black cardstock base.

 She’s ready to go trick-or-treating!
