Travas’ Birthday Card

I created this card using a design from the Silhouette Design Store, distress inks, Sizzix In Bloom Sentiments stamps, and a Stampendous Birthday Wish stamp.

I know my son-in-law likes unicorns, as I heard him once refer to himself as a ginger unicorn. This will probably be his continuing birthday theme, as unicorn cards are so much fun to make (last year was a unicorn one, too)!  Travas is such an amazing artist and his creativity always astounds me!

Valentine’s Day Gnomes

I created this card using a design from the Silhouette Design Store, a Fiskars Heart punch, and a Crazy Talk sentiment stamp. Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours!!!

My love for fairies started when I began to design fairy gardens. That love evolved to include mermaids, next came dragons…how could gnomes not be that far behind!

After cutting out the pieces of the design with my Cameo 4, I positioned the pieces loosely (without gluing them yet) on the white cardstock. I noticed that the gnomes’ beards disappeared against the white background, so I used a Copic C0 marker to outline them.

The pieces were attached to the cardstock with Scor-Tape and Multi Medium Matte as the adhesives. To make the gnomes appear grounded, I attached a scrap piece, with the stamped sentiment, under their feet. I used a Fiskars heart punch, and another scrap piece, to create the teal-blue hearts and anchored them with Scor-Tape.

To finish the card, I attached the white cardstock to the red cardstock base.

How could you not love these little guys if they showed up at your door on Valentine’s Day!

Snowy Fairyland Magic

I created this card with brushos and a beautiful fairy stamp from Lavinia Stamps.

I sprinkled Turquoise, Ost. Blue, Sea Green, and Violet brushos over the surface of the watercolor paper to begin the background. I spritzed the brushos with water and lifted and tilted the paper so that the brushos and water ran towards the bottom of the paper; then let the paper dry for a bit.

(I didn’t take the covers off my brushos when I received them. I punched a hole in each of the containers with a push pin. That way, I could sprinkle a little at a time versus the opened cover. I keep a push pin in each of the covers so the powder stays securely in the containers when not in use.)

The fairy was stamped with Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink. Some of the areas on the stamped image weren’t inked solid black. To remedy this, I used a small paintbrush, dabbed it onto the Nocturne Versafine Clair ink pad, and filled in the missing ink on the stamped image.

To make the ice along the bottom, I applied IndigoBlu FlitterGlu with a paintbrush and sprinkled Tim Holtz Clear Rock Candy over it. This was the first time I used the Rock Candy. I liked how I could see the colors of the brusho colored paper through it…it had more of a translucent look to it than when I use just regular glitter.

Next, I placed the paper in a Tim Holtz Splat Box, but a cardboard box would work just as well. I put a piece of scrap paper over the fairy to mask that area from paint spatter; used a paintbrush to flick acrylic paint over the paper to create the snow; removed the paper mask; and flicked a little paint on the fairy.

To preserve the card, I applied Tim Holtz Distress Micro Glaze (with a blending tool) over the surface of it, except over the Rock Candy section. This also brightened up the darker colors, as well.

To finish the card, I attached the paper to a teal cardstock base.

I think I’m starting to get the hang of brushos!!!
