Happy Birthday~Crazy Birds

There’s just something about the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Crazy Birds that always makes me smile whenever I see a card created with them.

I began this card by stamping the Crazy Birds (and their accessories) on X-Press It Blending Card. I die cut the stamped images using the coordinating Sizzix framelit dies and colored the images with Copic markers.

I had positioned the framelits as close as possible to the edges of the stamped images, but there were still some white areas around some of the cut edges. A while back, I ran across a really useful tip and pinned it to my Copic Marker Pinterest Board. Mindy, from My Creative Scoop, had eliminated the white areas by going around the edges with the side of her Copic Marker N5 (I used T7 on this card.). She said this should work with any image you stamp in black, or dark ink. If you stamp in a different color, she suggested using a Copic marker close to that color. It worked like magic!

I added sparkle to the Crazy Birds by brushing on some clear Wink of Stella and added their accessories. I put the Dot Fade Layering stencil on a piece of watercolor paper; sponged Abandoned Coral and Mermaid Lagoon distress inks on with a blending tool (on top of the stencil); removed the stencil; and sponged Mermaid Lagoon over the entire surface of the paper.

The Crazies were anchored with Scor-Tape and Ranger Multi Medium Matte. Memento Ink was used to stamp the “Happy Birthday” and “Celebrate” sentiments. I rubbed some Tim Holtz Micro Distress Glaze on top of the distress inked paper because I noticed it was coming off on my fingers as I was touching the card. I finished the card by anchoring it onto a base of Core’dinations Gemstones cardstock.
