Sending Healing Energy to Jamie

I created this card using Lavinia Stamps, Brushos, PanPastels, a sprinkling of fairy glitter dust, and love.

I wish you could see the sparkle on this card!!! It looks really magical in person, but the sparkle wasn’t captured when I took the pic.

I sprinkled Ost. Blue, Violet, Turquoise, and Leaf Green brushos over the surface of the watercolor paper to begin the background. I spritzed the brushos with water and lifted and tilted the paper so that the brushos and water ran towards the bottom of the paper; then let the paper dry for a bit.

To make the fairy more visible against the dark background, I used a Lavinia blender to apply white and yellow PanPastels in the area where I wanted to place the fairy. I applied a little more PanPastel to the blender and flicked it upward and outward from that area to give an illusion of the fairy’s healing energy actually glowing. Next, I stamped the fairy and the tree with Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink. Some areas on the fairy didn’t ink completely, so I dabbed a small paintbrush onto the VersaFine ink pad, and used the paintbrush to fill in those areas.

I used a Quickie Glue Pen on the places that I wanted to add sparkle, then sprinkled Mermaid Blue Eco Glitter Starbrights over the card. A clear Gelly Roll pen added additional shimmer on the fairy’s wings and the tree.

A Uni Posca Marker Pen provided light in the tree window because the fairy had left the light on before she had stepped out.

To brighten the brushos and to preserve the card, I sponged Distress Micro Glaze over some areas of the card and wiped off the excess. (The Ranger Tim Holtz Mini Ink Blending Tool/Foam is the perfect size for the Micro Glaze container.) I started to apply the Glaze on the PanPastel part of the card, then stopped because I realized that it was removing the PanPastel.

To finish the card, I used Scor-Tape to adhere the watercolor paper to the black cardstock base.

Make a Wish

I created this card using a design from the Silhouette Design Store, the Diamond Plate Darice embossing folder, a Tim Holtz sentiment stamp, and silver embossing powder.

I hope you’re having a wonderful summer!!!

To begin the card, I embossed a sheet of foil cardstock with the Diamond Plate embossing folder and my Big Shot. That gave the cardstock a metallic look. (When I gave the card to my youngest son for his birthday, he mentioned that he thought it was real metal, until he felt the surface. He must have thought I was THAT good!)

Next, I cut out the tool set design with my Cameo 4; positioned the pieces on the diamond plate; and adhered them with Scor-Tape.

Make a Wish sentiment: I cut out a strip of black cardstock, then inked the sentiment stamp with the VersaMark Stamp Pad. This provided a clear, translucent ink as a base for the embossing powder. I placed the stamp on the black scrap piece and checked to see if I had a solid image. (Usually, I rub the surface of the cardstock with an Embossing Buddy prior to inking the stamp with the VersaMark Pad to prevent extra embossing powder from sticking to the cardstock. In this case, the scrap piece was so small that only a Cricuit Weeder was needed to flick off the excess.) I sprinkled the embossing powder over the surface, tapped off the excess, and heat embossed the stamped image. I attached the sentiment strip to the cardstock with…you probably saw this coming if you’ve read any of my other  posts too…Scor-Tape.

I attached the diamond plate cardstock to the black cardstock, followed by the Bazzill (Tungsten) cardstock base.

Materials Used:

  • Foil Cardstock, Silver
  • Core’dinations Cardstock, Jet Black
  • Bazzill Cardstock Base, Tungsten

A Beautiful Future

I created this card using Lavinia Stamps, a Gel Press Print Plate, and Liquitex Basics acrylic paint.

I began the card by putting drops of acrylic paints onto a gel plate and spreading them with a brayer; then lightly blending the different layers together with it. (I cleaned my brayer in between the colors by rolling it on paper towels.) I used an 8 x 10 gel plate, and I think I like this size better than the smaller one. What I liked was it gave me an opportunity to look at the final print and choose which area would work best for the card.

After the paints had dried, I stamped the fairy and crow with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink, the plants with Pinecone. The fairy wasn’t solid, so I used a paintbrush with ink from the Nocturne ink pad, and filled in the lighter areas.

To finish the card, I attached the cardstock to a black cardstock base.

Materials used:

  • Strathmore Mixed Media paper, vellum surface, 117 lb.
  • Darice Cardstock, Jet Black
  • Liquitex Basics Acrylics: Cadmium Orange Hue, Cadmium Yellow Medium Hue, Light Green Permanent, and Hooker’s Green Hue Permanent,
  • Lavinia Stamps: The Oracle, Crow Set, and Nigela Damascena (Tracey Lavinia Dutton is the artist of the Lavinia stamps.)
  • VersaFine Clair Inks: Nocturne and Pinecone
  • Gel Press, 8 x 10
  • Hard Rubber Brayer
  • Tim Holtz Stamp Platform
  • Tim Holtz Tonic Glass Media Mat
  • Scor-Tape: 3/8”
  • Baby Wipes/Paper Towels

Have a MAGICAL day!!!
