Autumn’s Beauty

I created this card using Lavinia Stamps, Brusho Crystal Colours, ColorBox Dye Ink, and sparkle.

I sprinkled Gambage and Orange brushos over the surface of the watercolor paper to begin the background. I spritzed the brushos with water and lifted and tilted the paper so that the brushos and water ran towards the bottom of the paper; then let the paper dry for a bit.

I stamped the fairy, swing bed, and leaves with Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink. To create the sun around the inked images, I used an acetate circle as a mask; then sponged Tangerine ColorBox Dye ink around the circle using a Lavinia Stamps Blender. A Clear Gelly Roll pen added sparkle around the edge of the sun.

I used a Quickie Glue Pen on the fairy’s wings, as well as places that I wanted to add sparkle; then sprinkled Holographic embossing powder over those areas. Next, the sentiment was stamped with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink.

To brighten the brushos and to preserve the card, I sponged Distress Micro Glaze over the card, avoiding the areas with sparkle, and wiped off the excess.

To finish the card, I used Scor-Tape to adhere the watercolor paper to the black cardstock base.

Have a Norse Day

I created this card with stamps/dies from My Favorite Things Stamps, Copics, and Villainous Potion Distress Ink.

This card checks off two boxes for my family. First of all, I’m a Minnesota Vikings fan. Secondly, some of my ancestors came from Norway where the vikings were known to roam.

Villainous Potion, the new distress ink/oxide color by Tim Holtz, is such a beautiful purple. I look forward to each of his beautiful new colors when they come out!

Materials Used:

  • X-Press It Blending Card (for the copics)
  • Strathmore Watercolor Paper, Cold Press, 140 lb. (for the distress ink)
  • Core’dinations Cardstock Base, Jet Black
  • My Favorite Things Stamps/Dies: BB Viking and sentiment, BB Viking Die-namics, Watercolor Wash Free Form Die-namics
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Villainous Potion
  • Copics: V17-vest and boots; E35-shirt and pants; Y18-beard and hat (Y18 is yellow, but the camera interpreted it as orange); E000, E53-skin; C00-the stripes on the horns; T3, T4, T6-armour and belt
  • VersaFine Clair Inks: Nocturne, Fantasia
  • Ranger TH Mini Ink Blending Tool/Foam
  • Tim Holtz Stamp Platform
  • Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat
  • Ranger Multi Medium Mat (as an adhesive)
  • Scor-Tape: 1/8”, 1/4”, 3/8”
